YIPQS long-term workshop Qutantum Information, Quantum Matter and Quantum Gravity

Quantum information theory is a fundamental theory of quantum technology that has recently attracted much attention, such as quantum communication and quantum computation, but at the same time, its spillover into physics has produced many remarkable research results. In condensed matter theory, the structure of quantum order in quantum many-body systems has been successfully captured by using quantum entanglement and other quantum information concepts, and the tensor network method, a computational method that uses these concepts, has also been developed. In particle physics and cosmology, the study of the principle of gauge-gravity correspondence revealed that the core ideas of quantum information theory, such as quantum entanglement, quantum error-correcting codes and quantum computational complexity, are essential. By developing this new way of thinking, a series of major discoveries have been made, including the recent discovery of a clue to solving the black hole information paradox. We will hold an international long-term workshop on such a boundary area between quantum information and physics in 2023.
The international long-term workshops for interdisciplinary research in quantum information and theoretical physics have previously been held in 2016 and 2019, co-hosted with It from Qubit project of the Simons Foundation in the United States. They were a great success with a total of 300 participants and produced many research achievements. This time, we would like to hold an international long-term workshop in the form of co-hosting with Grant-in-Aid for Transformative Research Areas (A) Extreme Universe – A New Paradigm for Spacetime and Matter-. The workshop will be a fusion of quantum information and theoretical physics, with the addition of a new direction of verifying the quantum theory of black holes and gauge gravity correspondence through physical properties experiments.
